Help with the app

Ten direct answers.

Does the app need Internet?

No. Version 1.0.0 declares no Internet permission and all content is packaged in the app.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no registration, login, password, subscription or server profile.

Where are my selections stored?

Preset IDs and a few display preferences stay in Android app-private SharedPreferences on the device.

How do I delete local choices?

Open Local Settings and choose Reset local choices, use Android Clear storage, or uninstall the app.

Will choices move to another phone?

The app disables Android backup and device transfer for its data, so it is not designed to restore them elsewhere.

Can I apply for housing in the app?

No. The app has no vacancy, price, eligibility, application, booking or tenancy function. Use the current official process.

Can I contact the house from the app?

No. The Android app does not open email, place a call or launch a browser. Official addresses are shown as reference text.

Does it provide care or medical advice?

No. It is not a nursing, personal-care, medication, health, accessibility or emergency service.

Why are the images marked illustrative?

They are AI-generated editorial scenes and do not document the actual property, residents or current arrangements.

What if the animation is uncomfortable?

Open Local Settings and enable Reduce Motion. Content and standard buttons remain available.

Privacy contact

Ask a general privacy question.

Email office@abbeyfield.org.nz or write to Abbeyfield Masterton Incorporated, 39 Church Street, Masterton 5810, New Zealand.

Do not send medical records, identity documents, financial information, application materials or emergency requests to a general privacy inbox.

Technical troubleshooting

If the app behaves unexpectedly, close and reopen it. If local state appears incorrect, use Reset local choices. Android Clear storage provides a complete local reset. Reinstall only from the authorized release source.

Illustrative blank question cards

Before a real enquiry

Use the app to prepare, not to submit.

Choose a few general questions about private space, meals, visitors, roles, town access or the official process. Keep names, health details, finances and personal circumstances out of the app.

A useful next step

Carry questions into a real conversation.

The app and this site offer orientation, not live vacancy, price, eligibility, tenancy, care or accessibility decisions. Confirm current arrangements through the official Abbeyfield process and involve a trusted supporter or independent adviser when helpful.
